Nondestructive Testing

Nondestructive testing is the inspection and testing of materials, parts, and weldments without destroying the integrity of the material. The types of testing for which NDT Technicians are responsible vary by industry, but can include the following:

• Inspection of corrosion in pipes in the Petrochemical industry

• Inspection of cracks in airplane windows in the Aerospace industry

• Inspection of welds in the Construction industry

• Inspection of the hull of ships in the Shipbuilding industry

• Inspection of dissimilar metals in nuclear reactors in the Nuclear industry

• Inspection of impurities in rare materials in the Laboratory industries
